Blog 1 week of 9-26-11

What really stands out to me throughout everything in hurricane Katrina, is what people were thinking while the hurricane was actually going on. To me it is like suffering slowly- watching everything you worked for in life get destroyed instantaneously, or seeing your home become nothing from something, or spotting your community and your friends drown. All the possibilities unfortunately happened, and to see some of those things through your own eyes is something I am still unable to fully comprehend. Those who were unable to evacuate and those who were literally part of the hurricane had many decisions and thoughts spiraling through there minds almost as fast as the hurricane was spiraling. Some woman in the video we watched said, "The end of our lives was inevitably in sight", and another man said, "It was as if a train was in your ear all day." Whether the affects during Katrina were physical or mental, I feel sympathetic for all who went through the tragedy of that day.
